First Time Camper at Minehead, & Blenheim Gardens Walk

This summer I went on my first ever camping trip! My boyfriend planned the whole thing of course - I wouldn’t even know where to begin or where best to recommend. He decided on Minehead as he had camped there a few years ago, and remembered having a good experience. Minehead is a coastal town and civil parish located in Somerset, England.

Minehead Camping and Caravanning Club site ended up being the best place for me as a first time camper. After driving up to the entrance the employee gave us some general info about the grounds and gave us a handy pamphlet to review.

We got a perfect camping spot with some of the best views. At the time of our visit the grounds were less than half occupied, so we were lucky enough to have more options to choose from. We pitched the tent together, then I decided to check out the facilities.

I was pleasantly surprised by how well looked after and clean the facilities were. It was great to have the bathroom with multiple toilet, sinks and showers, and even a room with a separate washing up sink and laundry. We didn’t use the coin-operated washer-dryer but it was a good thing to have for those who needed a longer stay.

Here are a few photos of the tent pitching process. We also has a double air mattress and duvet. As it turns out, we forgot to walk with the pump for the air mattress, so several exhalations later the mattress was full of air and the tent was ready! It was then time to head out and do some food shopping for the barbeque!

The walk into town was so pretty, I just had to take some photos.

After getting all the essentials we started making our way back to the campsite. We walked through Blenheim Gardens and saw some beautiful flowers in bloom.

The MapsMe app later directed us through the most overgrown coastal path. On the bright side, we got to see some lovely sea views.

The barbeque was a success!

I thoroughly enjoyed my first time camping :) The next day, we headed to Dunster Castle!
