Saltram House, Garden, Park & Café

Saltram House is an exquisite Georgian house with rich designs and paintings that had been transformed numerous times in its hay days.

Once home to the Parker family from 1743, the earlier mansion was remodelled to reflect the family’s position and wealth. Saltram House is set on a wonderful green landscape and overlooks the River Plym. In 1769, John Parker II’s new wife, Theresa Robinson, inspired refreshing upgrades that took Saltram House from manor house to Palladian mansion.

Saltram remained in the Parker family for four more generations. It came to the National Trust in 1957, accepted in lieu of tax as part of the National Land Fund after the Second World War.
