Cockington Court: Trails, Lakes, Manor Café & Shops

We couldn't pass up an afternoon stroll to Cockington Court, and you shouldn't either! Here's a look at the naturescape and unique art pieces we saw on our walk through the court’s trails and shops.

Cockington Trail

As if living near the sea side isn't glorious enough, the Cockington trail is such a serene nature walk with a long line of streams.

Eight minutes after exiting the trail and strolling through the cottage-lined lane, we arrived at Cockington Court.

Cockington Court Entry

Admission to the court was free. We read the welcome sign and made our way to have some ice-cream at one of their shops, Cockington Mill Ice-cream Parlour. I had the ginger flavoured ice-cream and it was delicious!

We stopped to take a quick look at the map, admired the old water mill for a second, then headed through forestry trail which led us to the open greens at Cockington Court.

The Lakes & Gardens

The day before I was stunned by the beauty of Peaked Tor Cove and London Bridge. However, nothing prepared me for the lakes at Cockington Court! They were amazing.

Here are some photos of the walk toward them, as the lakes and surrounding gardens themselves especially deserve their own gallery.

I was taken back that something so beautiful can be so well hidden in an unassuming area. That's the best part about going on long walks through trails. Nature has some of the best kept secrets.

The Manor Café & Shops

After some time we decided to head back to the Cockington Manor Café to have a cup of coffee. There was an art display in the manor of drawings, paintings and sculptures.

With our flat white takeaway-coffees in hand, we then wandered about and passed by another garden and many shops that were on the court grounds. It was after closing time for most, but the glass walls showed quite a variety. Glass blown art, carpentry, unique furniture, soaps and graphic design art were among some of the shops we saw.

Overall I’m glad that we took the time on a Sunday afternoon to explore Cockington Court.
