Plymouth’s Beyond the Page & Box Museum

I've been wanting to visit Plymouth for some time now. A quick bridge across the harbour, and then several steps later, we arrived at The Box Museum. They recommended that we first check out the gallery display next door.

Beyond the Page @ St. Luke's

The Beyond the Page art exhibition showcases the traditions of South Asian miniature paintings and how they have been reclaimed and reinvented by modern and contemporary artists. The artists hail from India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Australia, the Netherlands, UK and USA. The pieces were very intricate and fragile, with rich colour and details.

The Box Museum

This museum is massive and information-rich! After checking out the Beyond the Page art exhibition at St. Luke's, we walked back over to the Box Museum. We had approximately one hour and thirty minutes until closing yet barely finished the local archaeology, and naval and fishing archives on the first floor.

After just barely starting the historic creatures section we were told that there was only ten minutes til closing. Some day in the near future, I definitely want to return to the Box Museum to continue where we left off.

The Box Museum is a must-visit! All that reading, viewing made us a bit hungry. Next on the blog, let’s see what I had to eat and drink in Plymouth at Crown and Anchor, Caffeine Club, & Armando Lounge!
